Yeah. I did it. The words that are oozing from my brain have filled out a mail forwarding card at the post office and notified friends and family that they've taken up a new residence of a separate blog entity. BLOGGER. That's some serious shit. Look forward to all future writings being here.
So to begin with. I am a hypocrite. Everyone is, but most do not admit it. Well I am here to tell you and everyone that reads these fucking paragraphs that I am a hypocrite. You might be asking your self at this point, "Why is he being a self declaring hypocrite? What point is this serving?" Well guess what? I'll tell you. I bought a car. I am a goddamn hypocrite because I bought a car. It's a 2001 Honda Civic. It's a low emission vehicle and it gets great gas mileage. But it's still a polluter and I visit a gas station once a week. Every six months I will have to take it to a mechanic and throw up money to align tires and change timing belts.
I've thrown my convictions and beliefs to the wind as I'm driving down the 101 doing 75. I am no longer a card carrying member of the zero environmental impact club. Los Angeles is a bitch of a city to not own a car in. It's no secret that reliable transportation evaporated from the streets of L.A. when it was bought out by automotive companies. Big business made it this way and now their grins and pocket books are a little bigger thanks to my financial contributions to their insurance companies and oil shares. I hate it and love it at the same time. Maybe thats what makes me human or I'm copping out. Who knows. I really think it's the latter though. After not owning a car and relying on MTA to get me around for 4 years here it has been really frustrating. Riding a bike on the streets scares the shit outta me. Drivers don't even think twice about bikers nor are they treated as street equals. I can't tell you how many times I've heard of bikers being hit by cars and getting injured or dead.
Well, I have the car now. I'm driving it. And I'm happy. I still have my convictions though and simultaneously love driving the car. Maybe the excitement of having the freedom to go anywhere you want to at a moments notice has a special place in my heart. I'll being seeing you all real soon.
